Fast Track Your Bioinformatics Initiatives
Relevant Software Inc.(RSI), specializes in "fast tracking"
the bioinformatic initiatives of lifescience/biotech companies and research institutions.
A significant and common challenge to organizations attempting to leverage innovative concepts and technologies is the
IT personnel resource gap. While innovative and entrepreneurial, these organizations are often lacking in sufficient
in-house staff experienced in developing complex, scalable and extensible software systems that are essential to their
commercialization and/or discovery goals. RSI is successful in working with scientists, management, and other domain
specialists to bridge this gap.
Proven Development Process Ensures Success
RSI’s team of experienced software architects, analysts,
project managers and developers have acquired valuable domain knowledge in helping lifescience organizations develop
robust, scalable and extensible software systems that support core research and operational activities.
Our process starts with helping clients to accurately define the business and functional requirements required for success.
Given that our clients are driven by science, we understand that it is difficult to accurately predict the future.
Therefore, we strive to develop system architectures that inherently facilitate change - efficiently and economically.
RSI leverages leading, supported technology platforms. Technology recommendations are made only when the client’s
requirements and infrastructure are thoroughly understood.

Domain Experience & Expertise
Recent projects include a
workflow and data management system for a leading proteomics/drug discovery organization, and data analysis/processing
software for a commercial genetic diagnostics platform (FDA validation process compliant). In addition to facilitating
the design and development of complex solutions, RSI implements formal knowledge transfer and staff development processes
that enable its clients to support the on-going maintenance and enhancement of their systems.
In addition to developing new applications and enhancing existing systems, RSI is frequently involved in helping clients to
assess a "buy versus build" decision. In cases where objectives can be met by implementing 3rd party turnkey
components, RSI assists in qualifying vendor solutions.

Relevant Software Inc.
granted US Patent
No. 6,845,369
Sample Project:
Tm Bioscience Corporation:
Genetic Assay Data Analysis Software
In close collaboration with the informatics scientists at Tm Bioscience,
Relevant Software designed and developed the genetic assay data analyzer
component for Tm’s line of commercial genetic assays. The genetic assay
data analyzer is used by researchers to determine the genetic profile of
patient samples based on the data generated by the device running the assay.
The application's functionalities include the auto-detection of the specific
genetic assay data formats, the ability to automatically process the data from
one to several genetic factors, and the ability to export the analyzed data to
external applications.
The application was developed following FDA guidelines concerning software development.
Sample Project:
Proteomics Production Database
Relevant Software designed, developed and deployed a sophisticated workflow engine and
production database for a biotechnology company.
Based on Java, Java Swing and Oracle, the solution provides the client the ability to fully
define its production processes and the data captured at each stage and included:
- Graphical process design module
- Definition and control over the production process and workflow by scientific staff
- Definition and control of the data captured at each production stage by scientific staff
- Integration of robotic and scientific devices
- Dynamically assembled interfaces
